Celebrities live their lives in front of the cameras. While that can’t be an easy life, it means that our children are exposed to all kinds of bad decisions and immoral behavior. In Hollywood, divorces, rehab, DUIs, and sex scandals seem more of a rule than an exception. Unfortunately, kids may have difficulty understanding the difference between the stars they see on the front pages of magazines and the heroes they play in their favorite movies. It seems inevitable that kids will look up to celebrities. So how can we teach them to look up to the right celebrities? If you’re trying to point your son in the right direction, start with the following five celebrities.

1. Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is one of the rare men in Hollywood to stay married for longer than ten years. He married Rita Wilson in 1988. As an actor, he’s starred in some of the most influential moves of the past several decades, including Forest Gump, Apollo 13, and Phildelphia-all of which won him an Oscar. But Tom is much more than just an actor. He also writes and directs and was awarded the Distinguished Public Service Award by the United States Navy for the work he did in Saving Private Ryan.

2. Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner reached heartthrob status when he played Jacob the werewolf in the popular Twilight films. In spite of his fame, though, he hasn’t picked up some of the bad habits of other celebrities his age and claims he doesn’t drink or take drugs. He is one of few young celebrities to actually still live with his parents. Lautner is down-to-earth and can poke fun at himself, his looks, and his fame. He has weathered rumors about his sexual orientation and his girlfriends without drama.

3. Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake is one of the rare singers to have made the leap from boy band to successful solo artist. Not only does he continue to push limits with his music, he has also pursued small acting roles to critical acclaim. While he is one of the richest men in Hollywood, Justin is also committed to helping promote music education and programs in schools across the United States. In 2000, he started the Justin Timberlake Foundation. He married longtime girlfriend Jessica Biel in 2012 and has remained committed to keeping his personal life private despite being one of the most famous people in all of Hollywood.

4. Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson is an Irish actor who started acting in Hollywood in 1982. Neeson has always been committed to his family, claiming he gave up smoking in 2003 for his sons. He suffered a very public heartbreak when his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, died from a head injury while skiing in 2009.

5. Josh Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson is best known for his role in The Hunger Games series, although he started acting in the early 2000s when he was a kid. He claims that becoming famous has not changed him and he rarely appears in the tabloids. Josh is an advocate to the LGBT community and an advocate the gay-straight alliance.
